1. Colnago Master X-Light Adidas Limited Edition Road Bike
Two iconic sporting brands, Adidas and Colnago know a thing or two about conjuring up emotions and providing sportsmen and women with the best products. Coming together for a limited-edition collaboration, the Master X-Light Adidas Limited Edition Frameset has been designed with the help of the apparel store, Size. The Master X-Light is one of the Italian brand's most recognisable framesets. Made using Bi-conic DT15V steel tubes, the star-shaped tubing is a signature Colnago addition. Chrome lugs are micro-fused, as are the dropouts.
What makes this Master stand out from all others is the 'Trefoil' and the Size? apparel logos. One of only 105 framesets, we built this example with a full Campagnolo Super Record groupset and box section Pacenti Brevet Aluminium rims with Sapim Race Double Butted spokes and Hope RS4. Harking back to 80s, when the Master was first launched, the Deda Elementi handlebar and Campagnolo 1A Quill stem. A true heading turner, for all the right reasons, this is, in our opinion, how to bring a classic right into the 21st century.
2. BMC Teammachine SLR Disc Road Bike
Experts when it comes to road, mountain and triathlon bikes, BMC have provided the likes of mountain bike legend Julian Absalon with trail beating machines and Australian Grand Tour winner, Cadel Evans, with a Tour winning bike. Their latest range is more expansive than ever, with the Teammachine a key model in their illustrious road bike range. Our latest build uses the performance-focused carbon fibre frame and pairs it with a selection of premium components.
The carbon and gold colourway on this SLR01 Module Frameset is breathtaking and pays homage to Greg Van Avermaet's TeamMachine, especially built for him in a stunning gold colour scheme to celebrate the Belgian's Rio Olympic Road Race victory. The Knight Composites 35 Tubeless Aero Carbon Clincher Disc Wheels are a familiar sight on many custom builds that leave our workshop, as are bike builds with Shimano's top of the range Dura-Ace 9150 Di2 groupset. The module element of the frameset means a handlebar, seatpost and stem comes as part of the package. Clean, composed and rather cool, we think you'll agree the race-spec BMC Teammachine is pretty special.
3. Festka Spectre Disc Road Bike
After two bicycle manufacturing giants, we take a look at a much smaller brand, but one that holds pride of place at Sigma Sports. Festka are a Czech frame builder which pride themselves on their custom geometries and paint schemes. The options when it comes to designs are expansive and when it comes to finished builds we have had some crackers. This Spectre is no different. A stealth build which pushes the boat out when it comes to equipment, read on to discover what adorns this impressive road bike.
From the handlebar to wheels, ENVE is a lightweight, reliable and performance-focused brand. The super-deep SES 5.6 Thru Axle Discs are the wheels of choice and have been built onto Chris King hubs. ENVE has been included again, with the SES Aero V2 Compact Road handlebar, Inline seatpost and Road stem. Keeping track of training and racing data is made simple with the inclusion of a Stages Cycling Shimano Dura-Ace R9100 dual sided power meter. Everything down to the bottom bracket and bar tape has been carefully considered. CeramicSpeed are smooth operators and their ceramic bottom bracket is market-leading, while the Supacaz Super Sticky Kush bar tape adds both cushioning over rougher surfaces and a sophisticated finishing touch.
We think you'll agree, our February Bikes Built Your Way installment contains some pretty special machines. Want to see the other bikes to come out of our workshop? Head over to the Sigma Sports Instagram page to avoid missing out.
