Management Accountant, Grantham, UK

Now looking to recruit a Management Accountant into the Finance team, the successful candidate will gain hands on experience in a fun, fast paced and busy environment. Given the growth trajectory of the business, the role is varied so will suit a team player, happy to get stuck and deliver best practice monthly processes. This role is a great opportunity to be part of a growing private equity backed business, requiring ownership of key parts of the financial reporting function. You will become an integral member of a small (but very friendly) team of 6 based in Grantham, with the occasional need for travel to London.

Management Accountant Key Deliverables

  • Production of monthly management accounts end-to-end including group consolidation
  • Partnering with different department heads to set and monitor KPIs and proactively investigating variances to target
  • Support the production of the Group’s financial reporting including production of Statutory Accounts (FRS 102)
  • Assistance with the preparation of the annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts in accordance with group timelines
  • Production of quarterly VAT returns and reconciliation to nominal ledger
  • Oversee perpetual stock count and responsibility for monthly stock reconciliation
  • Assist with monthly sales to cash reconciliation process
  • Own and manage the Company fixed asset register
  • Assistance with Accounts Payable management including overseeing company expenses and credit card administration
  • Challenging the existing processes and methods to improve efficiency and enhance controls, helping reduce the time taken to close each month and year end (which may include the introduction of new technology)
  • Involvement with ad hoc project work for use at a Board level in analysing performance
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders and be able to discuss financial information with them as required
  • Play a crucial part in the relationship with third parties, including external auditors and involvement in the planning and execution of our annual audit cycles
  • Assist in developing, leading, and mentoring the finance team to increase the department’s capabilities and help them build their own Personal Development Plans

The Successful Applicant will

  • Have 3-5 years’ work experience in industry in a finance team
  • Be competent with double entry book-keeping and understanding of the 3 financial statements (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow)
  • Have experienced running a full month end process end to end including Group consolidated accounts
  • Be advanced in Microsoft Excel and be comfortable using formulas such as VLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, pivot tables etc
  • Have Sage 200 experience (but not essential), or experience in posting journals in other accounting software
  • Is comfortable working in a team and strives to look for continuous improvement
  • Be working towards (or already have) a finance qualification e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA (strong QBE candidates will also be considered)

  • Salary range of £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
