Colnago Concept Disc Road Frameset
Taking the name of the highly regarded Italian brands first production carbon frame, the Colnago Concept Disc Road Frameset is the companys first foray into aero road bikes. Fast, stiff and responsive, yet remaining supremely comfortable and stable, the Concept isn't just a bike for racing but is perfect for tackling long distance rides without the harshness of some aerodynamic offerings.
The design has been focussed around aerodynamics and the Colnago Concept high modulus carbon frame has been designed and tested in the wind tunnel. A truncated airfoil tube profiles optimises aerodynamics while maintaining the traditional race geometry of the C60 and V1-r. The NACA airfoil shaped fork allows room for tyres up to 28mm and cuts faster through the air.
There is no round leading edge to the headtube for further aero gains, and the tapered steerer is a more traditional shape to improve ride quality. With a taller headtube than other aero bikes, you'll be able to remain in an aero position for longer thanks to the improved comfort, whilst benefitting for the enhanced handling and stiffness gained from a lower spacer stack. Colnago's new Concept headset is included and the vertically channelled cups damp vibrations for reduced fatigue.
The downtube widens towards the bottom bracket and is designed to keep your water bottle out of the wind. The upper portion of the seat tube smoothes the airflow while the lower area shrouds the rear wheel; this design is optimised for use with 25mm tyres, a now popular choice with road riders.
Reduced deflection at the head tube and bottom bracket means that all your power will be transferred to the road when sprinting, while the rear triangle offers an improved ride quality. The ThreadFit 82.5 bottom bracket system offers the rigidity of PressFit with the reliability of a threaded system.
Internal cable routing improves aesthetics and reduces drag and an integrated seat clamp provides a clean look to the frame. Both mechanical and electronic groupsets can be run, increasing this framesets versatility.
