HED Jet 9 Black Stallion Clincher Rear Wheel
The Jet 9 Black Stallion Clincher Rear Wheel from HED has a hybrid construction, utilising a 90mm deep UD (uni-directional) carbon skin for aerodynamics, bonded to an aluminium rim for better braking. Furthermore, the aluminium brake track uses HED’s all-black Turbine Technology to give braking which is 25% improved in the dry and a huge 70% better in the wet over normal aluminium rims, all while using standard brake pads.
The rim width itself is 25mm externally and 21mm internally, which allows even modest 23mm and 25mm tyres to sit more cohesively, reducing drag and giving better sidewall stability for cornering. It also means that the tyre creates a shorter, wider contact patch which decreases rolling resistance, increases grip and allows for the use of lower tyre pressures for greater comfort.
The Stallion build of the wheel has all the benefits of the standard Jet 9 with the addition of four extra spokes which raises the suggested weight limit to 110 kgs (17.3 stone). The tyre is not included, but available to purchase separately.
