The Cosmic SL Insulated Vest and Cosmic Ultimate GTX Jacket are Mavic's layering system designed for unpredictable weather such as that often a part of multi-day rides and races in the mountains. Both items work well on their own over a jersey, but are designed to complement each other, and they pack down to easily fit in a jersey pocket as the temperature starts to rise or you're tackling a tough climb.
The SL vest provides insulation and breathability and includes an exterior pocket on the chest for securing ID, cash and cards. The jacket is more protective, with Gore-Tex Active and ShakeDry fabrics, and a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating, keeping out the heaviest downpours, and when it dries out, you can literally just shake off excess water on the surface. Both feature a full zip for versatility and the ability to adapt your temperature to match the conditions.
