Weighing in at just 1595g and using a wide range of Mavic’s supremely high-end technologies, the Mavic Ksyrium Pro Disc 12mm 6 Bolt Clincher Wheelset 2017 offers incredible rigidity, durability and comfort over rougher surfaces, making them perfect for day-in, day-out use.
Everything from their Maxtal construction to SUP joining that improves resistance and durability over rougher surfaces makes this wheelset perfect for riders who don’t just limit themselves to one discipline. The integration of disc brakes improves this versatility, and Mavic state that for off-road and wet weather riding, you should opt for disc brakes over rim brakes.
With their impressive testing research and testing facilities within the mountain biking sector, Mavic understand that braking torque is distributed through the hub, spokes and lower rim when using disc brakes, so the braking load needs to be evenly distributed. To counteract this, the wheelset has been overbuilt with 24 spokes (front and back), with Isopulse lacing (radial lacing on the drive side) to improve stiffness and the balance of spoke tension.
The overall weight of just 1595g also contributes to the performance, allowing you to climb and descend with utmost confidence, but also gives the responsive, snappy handling you need for more technical descents.
Mavic’s unique ISM 4D technology blends the perfect combination of superlight rims with strength by reducing any excess material, all without compromising strength. This also allows for explosive accelerations and improved agility.
The front wheel has been equipped with Mavic’s Yksion Pro Griplink 25mm tyre to compliment the wheels amazing cornering performance, whilst the rear uses the Yksion Pro Powerlink tyre for ultra low rolling resistance and comfortable riding over long distances.
A 12mm front hub, which is convertible to a 15mm thru-axle, gives easy access to changing inner tubes or tyres in high-paced situations, whilst the rear hub and 12 x 142 thru-axle keeps the wheel supremely rigid when sprinting out the saddle.
