Pinarello Bolide Frameset

The Pinarello Bolide Frameset has been developed in a collaboration between Team Sky and Pinarello to improve the already renowned time trial bike, the Graal, that took Team Sky riders to victory in 2012 Tour de France time trial stages.

Aerodynamics were the primary consideration and the impact of airflow on every single component has been investigated, and resulted in a 15% lower aerodynamic impact. New airfoil sections ensure the lowest aerodynamic resistance, whichever direction the wind is coming from, and can even generate a forward thrust in certain conditions.

The seat tube has a concave back so the wheel is brought further in for improved airflow. Designed by Pinarello LAB, an integrated braking system hides the brakes from the air for less aerodynamic resistance as well as improved aesthetics.

Continuity throughout is further increased by the use of an integrated handlebar for less resistance and the battery and controllers of electronic groupsets are completely hidden inside the frame. The electronic shifter controls are also integrated into the bars for reduced turbulence in the front end.

The tubes have been optimised to increase stiffness so all the power you are generating is being utilised. The tapered headset with 1" 1/8 and 1" 1/4 bearings finds the balance between aerodynamics and exceptional handling.

The Bolide features Pinarello's trademark asymmetric chainstays, the carbon lay-up is optimised to ensure reinforcement is in high stress areas of the frame and the use of Torayca 65HM1K carbon reduces the weight of the frame.

This UCI approved frameset is compatible with both mechanical and electronic groupsets and your water bottle will be 'hidden' from the air through a specially designed down tube, and can be lowered to increase aerodynamics. Horizontal rear dropouts allow you to move the wheel in closer to the frame.
