Roval Control Carbon 29 MTB Wheelset
Borrowing much of the technology and ideas from the renowned Control SL 29, the handbuilt Control Carbon 29 MTB Wheelset from Roval offers outstanding performance at a very palatable price and an impressive weight, making it an excellent XC-oriented option.
They use a Zero Bead Hook design and a 25mm internal width for a safe and strong construction that can withstand hard impacts but retain a light, spritely feel for good acceleration and climbing alongside nimble handling. Roval’s 2Bliss Ready tubeless design makes for easy, secure tyre installation and the rim’s width gives good support to the tyre sidewalls for predictable cornering and lower rolling resistance.
J-bend DT Swiss Competition Race spokes and alloy Pro Lock hexagonal nipples provide a strong build in a two-cross configuration but are also straightforward for maintenance and replacement if required. The hubs are also high-quality DT Swiss components; 350 Classics front and rear with a 36 tooth quick engagement ratchet system for near-instant power on technical climbs or finish line sprints and SRAM XX1 XD freehub.
