Wolf Tooth Components 49T GC Cog & WolfCage Kit - Shimano 11 Speed
The Wolf Tooth Components 49T GC Cog & WolfCage Kit is designed to provide that extra low gear required for undertaking the steepest and most technical offroad climbs. This kit is specifically designed to work with Shimano XT and XTR 11-Speed rear derailleurs and cassettes and is compatible with both the medium cage (GS) and long cage (SGS) variants.
The kit is comprised of a large 49T cassette sprocket, an 18T cassette sprocket, and a replacement derailleur cage. You will need to take the 17T and the 19T sprockets out of your current cassette, then the 49T sprocket would be fitted to the freehub first behind the cassette. Instead of refitting the 19T sprocket you'd put the supplied 18T sprocket in its place and then continue to fit the 15T, 13T, and 11T tooth sprockets as normal.
This gives a custom cassette ratio with a low sprocket not found on factory spec Shimano cassettes. You will need to change the cage on the derailleur to the supplied one to allow it to cope with the improved range.

Caution: Always check full suspension travel with the chain on the GC 49. Bleed air from rear shock and fully compress the rear suspension to check. Derailleur cage must not bottom out in forward rotation.
