Zipp 302 Carbon Clincher Wheelset
Zipp have been making carbon parts for bikes since 1988, and have become world-renowned for their premium wheels. The 302 Carbon Clincher Wheelset has been carefully manufactured in Indianapolis in order that Zipp can retain complete control over the process, and they are rightly proud of the fact that since they started producing carbon clincher rims in 2010 there has not been a single incident of brake heat-related failure.
The 302 wheels feature Sapim CX Sprint J-bend spokes with brass nipples built onto Zipp’s 76/176 hubs using a two cross pattern. This choice of build means a comfier ride than a radial pattern and straight pull spokes usually gives, and also allows for easier truing and spoke replacement if required. The smart, 45mm deep rims draw on Zipp’s aerodynamic expertise for their slippery shape, but won’t be a handful in difficult crosswinds thanks to their rounded profile
