Specialized S-Works Crux Cyclocross Frameset 2021
Keen to continue its World Championships success, Specialized has redesigned the excellent S-Works Crux Cyclocross Frameset. It is still aimed squarely at maximum speed around a CX course rather than competence on gravel adventures and as such the Crux concentrates on low weight, quick handling and ease of carrying. The FACT 11r carbon frame is now 400 grams lighter than its predecessor, at around 900 grams (size dependent), and the angles remain suitably aggressive.
Easier shouldering is helped by a flattened top tube and large front triangle opening. Extra compliance keeps comfort and control high, with the shorter seat tube and longer seatpost adding extra bump absorption ability. When used with a regulation 33mm CX tyre there is 8mm of clearance either side to account for muddy conditions, and 12mm thru-axles hold the wheels in the frame for stiffness and sharp handling.
