Bikes Built Your Way
January
January can be tough, the days are short, the festive period is now a mere mince pie fuelled memory and those warm summer spins seem a long way off. You could lock yourself away until spring or you could get your bike porn fix and take a look at some of our favourite custom bike builds, all fresh out of our Hampton Wick Store workshop. Read on to discover what caught our eye this month.
Colnago Sigma Sports Exclusive C64 Dura-Ace Di2 Disc Road Bike
Colnago is a brand never afraid to shy away from show-stopping paint schemes so it is no wonder this C64 features in this article. What may come as a surprise though is the slightly unconventional paint scheme here. Away from the bright and bold colours, often found adorning these high-end machines, this comes in a stripped-back brushed metal design. The attention to detail really is something to behold and of course, a frameset of this quality demands a groupset and finishing kit just as special.
An exclusive Sigma Sports build, we have equipped this bike with an 11-speed Shimano Dura-Ace 9150 and 9170 Di2 groupset. An electronic, fast shifting, top of the line range of components, the choice of wheels had to be a considered one. The decision was made to add Knight Composites 35 Tubeless Aero Carbon Clincher Disc Wheels to this build and pair them with Continental GP5000 Tubeless Tyres. Touchpoints from Colnago are in keeping with the C64's clean lines, with a R41 Carbon Handlebar, SR9 Alloy Stem and carbon seatpost. Finishing touches come courtesy of VEL, with the Snake Premium Bar Tape, and Specialized, with the ultra-supportive S-Works Toupe Saddle.
Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL6 Disc Road Bike
Specialized's Tarmac is one of our most popular road bikes. Whether that be in a stock specification, complete build or as a frameset, built up by our team of mechanics as a custom bike. A paint scheme that uses gloss cool and dove grey tones, diamond dust highlights and a Murano pearl finish, this is a fine example of what is possible when using this state of the art frameset as a starting point.
The SRAM RED eTap AXS groupset found on this premium FACT 12r carbon fibre frameset is electronic, wireless and shifts sublimely smoothly. 12-speed, this looks the part when combined with the Roval CLX 50 Carbon Clincher Wheels and Fizik Arione R1 saddle. ENVE know a thing or two about creating both ergonomic and performance-focused components. The ENVE Road Stem, SES Aero V2 Compact Road Handlebar and Garmin Computer Mount give the bike's cockpit a uniformed appearance, while VEL Snake Premium Bar Tape adds comfort.
Pinarello Dogma F12 Disc Road Bike
As iconic pro bikes go they don't come more recognisable than Team INEOS' red and black Pinarello Dogma F12s. These stunning bikes are not just reserved for the likes of Froome and Thomas though. Available in either a rim or disc setup, the frameset provides the perfect basis to start building your dream road bike. We think this could be one of the most sophisticated Dogma F12 builds ever to leave our workshop.
When it comes to upgrading your drivetrain this is a fine example. CeramicSpeed's OSPW Wheel System improves efficiency and when it comes to the wow factor, the matching red jockey wheels fit the bill with the gold KMC X11SL-Ti 11-speed Chain and Shimano Dura-Ace 9170 Di2 electronic groupset. MOST are Pinarello's own brand of components and in this case provide the integrated MOST Talon Ultra Di2 1K Carbon Integrated Road Handlebar and The Wings Carbon Bottle Cage. ENVE SES 5.6 Clincher Disc Wheels are aerodynamic, with a 54mm front and 63mm rear rim depth.
A complete wheelset weight of 1568 grams makes for welcome reading, as does the 145 gram weight of the Pro Stealth Superlight Carbon Saddle, which provides impressive support thanks to the EVA foam construction and wide cut out channel.
