New Diverge First Ride Review
I recently got my hands on the new Specialized Diverge Gravel Bike, and I couldn’t wait to see how it rides. After a first spin, here’s what stood out.
Smooth Ride, Even on the Rough Stuff.
From the towpath to the broken roads around here, the Diverge immediately impressed me with how smooth it felt. The Future Shock suspension system works well to iron out imperfections, making the ride noticeably more comfortable without feeling sluggish.
Tyre Clearance & Comfort.
With clearance for up to 50mm tyres, I’ll admit I was a little sceptical at first. But after riding it, I can confidently say they’re a game-changer for comfort and versatility. Those bigger tyres paired with the future shock make long days out on gravel trails or rough backroads feel much easier.
Smart Storage.
Another detail I loved is the internal downtube storage. It’s perfect for stashing essentials like tools, snacks, or a spare layer without needing extra bags. A small touch, but it makes a big difference in practicality.
Confidence on Every Ride.
What struck me most was how confidence-inspiring the Diverge felt. Even on a short first ride, it gave me that urge to push further and explore more. It’s stable, comfortable, and fun exactly what you want from a gravel bike.
Versatility Beyond Gravel.
While it’s clearly built for adventure, the Diverge isn’t limited to gravel. Add some mudguards, and it becomes a seriously capable winter commuter. It’s versatile enough to be your go-to bike whether you’re chasing weekend escapes or just riding to work.
