Yes these are expensive but they do work. I have used them for road biking through the winter and for dog walks, hikes and sports spectating. To give some context, I suffer from reynard - sometimes called dead mans fingers which is where your fingers get so cold blood stops flowing to them and your hands kids of freeze up and go white - 'dead man'. It can happen suddenly like in a freezer aisle at the supermarket or creep up on you which is what happens on a bike ride. I have used the best gloves from Gore and suffered badly at events and on rides to the point that I rarely ride Nov-Feb unless it is a warmer day. I got caught out late October on a ride and resolved to go big on gloves or just stop venturing out. Deep breath, £100 on a pair of gloves - suppose I lose one? But these have been great all through the winter, thin enough that you can manage zips, computers brakes and gears - I can even adjust the volume on my phone through the a jacket pocket, yet they give enough protection that I haven't suffered while wearing them at all, they are warm and windproof, I don't know how they would cope in a downpour once soaked through but don't intend on finding out. On a 4 hour ride you can start to feel the dampness from sweat in them, more when you remove them and put them back on but I'll live with that in exchange for warm fingers and zero reynard misery. So like with a lot of Assos stuff its buy cheap, buy twice or just buy Assos first time.

On first opening these looked a bit dissapointing. £100 gloves in an unbranded, clear plastic bag. A bit low key compared to other Assos clothing. They also feel quite thin and lightweight and I was a bit doubtful of how good they'd be. I already have some "early winter" Assos gloves from a couple of years ago which are great but you start to feel the cold below 6C, unless you are really motoring. Those are XL and a bit big, so I bought these in a L. First thoughts were they were a bit tight and rubbing between my fingers. After one ride I'm happy these are at least a 4/5. They are *very warm*. Riding in 5-6C at a reasonable pace they're probably too warm. They seem to have stretched very slightly, at least no discomfort or rubbing now. They are think enough so I can still pull zips on my jacket, and jacket pockets, and just about pull out a bit of food. Not tried them in the wet yet, and only a couple of weeks old so too early to talk about longevity, although every other bit of Assos kit I have seems to last and last.
