When cycling conditions are cold and mostly dry, the Castelli Espresso Air Jacket delivers impressive warmth and breathability. With Ristretto Warm fabric, you get the benefits of a warm and fleecy interior paired with just enough airflow to prevent you from overheating or getting soaked in sweat.
A new clothing technology for creating warmth when cycling in winter while keeping you sweat-free. Ristretto fabrics allow an imperceptible amount of air to pass through, so you won't even notice it. But this air permeability allows jerseys and jackets to breathe far better than traditional membrane cycling tops. The Espresso Air also gets a cosy fleece inner face, enabling you to take on colder temperatures and cope with varying degrees of effort while remaining perfectly warm.
The Espresso Air Jacket offers plenty of stretch, letting you enjoy a streamlined fit, just what's needed for conserving winter watts when building your fitness base. Castelli has also applied a PFAS-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish, fending off passing rain showers and damp roads. Double-layer cuffs keep warmth in and integrate with winter gloves, too. The front zipper is two-way, letting you open from top or bottom, making it simple to regulate your body temperature.
Three back pockets provide plentiful storage. To keep the contents secure, Castelli has added a security lip to the top of the pockets. A reflective stripe under the pockets gives added visibility on darker winter mornings and evening rides.

Very warm. But breathable. Where I sweat and get damp with other jackets this breathes.. I've got a number of winter jackets - for very cold conditions, rain etc.. all work well in that I don't get wet or cold. However the sweat still gathers on intense efforts and makes it uncomfortable. This seems to have cracked the problem.
If you had the old 80's early 90's thermal jackets that look liked they were made of thin foam packaging then this is modern day equivalent. Works a treat on cold dry mornings in keeping those winter winds from getting through. Usual Castelli durability, it's made for cyclists to use day in day out. Take note Castelli don't do a one jacket does everything approach so do your research and pick a jacket for the occasion, more precisely the weather conditions.
