Bought these to replace the SMRT800S on my gravel bike. which had worn surprisingly quickly. There is no noticeable difference in performance from the smaller heat dispersion fins, so I guess Shimano have worked out they didn’t need as much aluminium to do the job.

Shimano RT-MT800 Ice Tech Centre Lock Brake Rotor
Providing excellent braking in all conditions, Shimano’s RT-MT800 Ice Tech Centre Lock Disc Brake Rotor forms part of their lauded XT level mountain bike groupset. Performance is improved by the use of a stainless steel/alloy 3-layer sandwich which promotes faster heat dissipation, this leads to better, more consistent braking and reduces instances of brake fade. The sandwich construction can reduce surface temperatures by up to 50°C which also means that pad temperatures are lower too, meaning a longer life and less squeal.
Shimano’s Center Lock system is simple to install and provides a secure, solid base for the rotor and the forged alloy spider which increases rigidity and reduces weight.
Features
- Deore XT grade RT-MT800 Ice Tech rotors give excellent performance made from a stainless steel / alloy 3-layer sandwich construction that manages heat while riding
- The clad steel / alloy / steel rotor construction allows heat generated from braking to radiate quickly through the aluminium core achieving surface temperature drops of around 50°C
- When used with Ice Tech pads surface temperatures can drop from around 400 to 300°C, this provides great improvements in performance all round
- Ice Tech rotors achieve long pad life, less noise and less fade due to improved heat dispersion
- Using the proven Shimano Center Lock system for excellent rigidity and security with an easy set-up
- Rotor contact surface has been developed for excellent pad clearing and cooling which increases pad performance and life
- Large forged alloy spider supports rotor surface, increasing rigidity and reducing weight
- Comes complete with alloy lockring

About Shimano
Shifting the way the world rides.
From a single Osaka workshop in 1921, Shimano has grown into the world's most influential component maker. The brand's relentless engineering — Dura-Ace, Ultegra, GRX, XTR — has shaped the way the world shifts, brakes and rides, on the road and off it.
Shimano's flagship groupset, Dura-Ace, has been the benchmark for top-level road components for more than five decades. Every refinement that lands on Dura-Ace eventually shapes the entire Shimano range, all the way down to entry-level drivetrains.
