By combining the Ion 200 RT and the Flare RT2 into the Ion 200 RT / Flare RT2 Light Set Trek has produced a very convenient, simple and powerful way to stay visible even during daylight rides. The Ion 200 RT front light provides up to 200 lumens of power for 1.5 hours, or up to 30 hours of light if used in flashing mode. The Flare RT2 rear light will blast out 90 lumens of flashing light for six hours or up to 30 hours in night time flash mode.
With simple USB charging and the ability to connect to Garmin and Trek ANT+ devices for battery status and wireless control, there is no excuse for running out of juice. Even so, the Flare RT2 has a battery save mode that clicks in at five percent power remaining to give 30 minutes illumination. Easily mounted to helmet, frame or handlebar, and round seatposts, the Ion 200 RT / Flare RT2 Light Set offers great visibility and safety for any commute or training ride.
If you've got a Trek, but the mounts (2 x front, 1 x seat - rear) and the integration is superb. Fitted front and rear of new Trek Domane and it's the best mounting system if seen. Double position on front cable clamp accommodates front light and computer mount.
The only light I'll trust for longer rides. I do some rides in excess of 10/12 hours and these will keep going. The rear light is very powerful and can be seen from a good distance away. Likewise so can the front and if you are caught out in the dark it's actually a reasonable light for illuminating your path. I use these in conjunction with a radar unit with light set to off so have the benefit of having a radar and being visible on the road 😀
