Specialized Como SL Fork Steerer – Stop Ride Notice

Specialized have identified a potential issue with forks fitted to all models of Turbo Como SL bicycles. The fork steerer tube on affected bikes may develop a small fatigue crack which depending on use could lead to a progressive failure of the fork, posing a fall hazard.

Specialized ask that you stop riding your Como SL bicycle immediately. If you are no longer the owner, please inform the new owner.

AFFECTED PRODUCT: Fork steerer tubes on all Turbo Como SL bikes, sold from 2021 onwards. This includes all Turbo Como SL 4.0 and 5.0 bikes, with belt or chain drive.

Como SL bikes have two parallel down-tubes and are typically fitted with a front rack/basket and fenders. The “Como SL” marking typically appears as a small, subtle graphic on the top tube or back of the seat tube. Other Specialized Como bikes without the “SL” designation are not affected.

Full bike model name can be found on your original invoice and your user manual. Alternatively you can download and connect your bike to the Specialized App - if you need help connecting your bike please check this support article Specialized App - Add a Bike.

If you are still unsure, please contact us or contact Specialized Rider Care.

LIST OF AFFECTED BIKE MODELS:

  • COMO SL 4.0 (all model years)

  • COMO SL 5.0 (all model years)

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HAVE AN AFFECTED BIKE: Please stop riding your bike immediately and await an update to this page. Specialized are working with the U.S. CPSC to obtain the required approvals to provide you with a solution. As of January 2026, Specialized believe it will be several weeks before they can provide details of an approved rework plan. Riders should therefore check www.specialized.com/safety-recall-notices for periodic updates.
