Assos Mille GT EVO Winter Jacket

Boasting a blend of advanced materials, the Assos Mille GT EVO Winter Jacket shields and insulates from chilly winds and drizzle but remains tremendously breathable to award the perfect performance for cool spring and autumn days or milder winter conditions. Although not fully waterproof, an outer jacket should only be required in heavy or prolonged rain, especially when training hard.

A full front panel of NEOS Medium material totally shields the chest from the chilly winter air thanks to its wind and water resistance and a high degree of insulation. The lighter but still wind and water-resistant RX Light fabric protects the arms and upper back but boosts the breathability of the jacket tremendously. To combat excessive perspiration during intense efforts, sections of RX material are positioned under the arms and on the back to grant rapid moisture wicking and prevent the wearer from overheating.

These three sophisticated materials are linked together with a form-fitting but unrestrictive cut, which is optimised for the riding position but also facilitates the comfortable wearing of insulating layers underneath. The raglan sleeve-to-body junction improves freedom of movement and comfort in the shoulder zone, even when riding stretched out, deep in the drops.

Three rear pockets store all ride essentials and protect the contents thanks to their innovative lid design. These pockets are accented by reflective strips to enhance safety when riding in low-light conditions and a full-length zip completes the jacket by providing the opportunity for tailored levels of ventilation.

As one would expect from Assos good quality jacket which delivers as promised. It's a little on pricy side but I think it's worth it. Materials feel very good, wind stopper front and thinner material in back to drive moisture away. It is very tight fit, standing upright feels a little to restrictive (specially around shoulders/chest) but once on a bike the fit is great. I'm very happy with it up till now. Went for size L. Perfect fit. I'm 185cm & 83kg. Can't comment on water repellencies as I don't ride in rain. I use it in combination with multiple Assos base layers. As I also have Assos spring-fall jacket below are the combinations that I found works best for me in certain temperature ranges: 13C and above - Millet GT Sping-Fall jacket + Spring-Fall LS skin layer 9-12C - Millet GT Sping-Fall jacket + Winter LS skin layer 7-9C - Millet GT Sping-Fall jacket + Ultraz Winter LS skin layer (can go down to 6C but that pushing it already as you will start to feel cold in your arms - depends of course how sensitive you are) 4-6C - Millet GT Winter Evo jacket + Winter LS skin layer 0-3C - Millet GT Winter Evo jacket + Ultraz Winter LS skin layer (can go down to -1C but that pushing it already as you will start to feel cold in your arms - depends of course how sensitive you are) All the above is valid for flat rides, going uphill I usually unzip jackets to get even more effective moisture and ventilation control. For longer descents (anything beyond 100 vertical meters) I would recommend always to use addt'l wind or rain jacket as otherwise wind will cool you down to much - you will get cold.

Beer Boy,

Been waiting for cold conditions to make use of the jacket and with temperatures bordering 0°C I'm finally putting it to good use with merino base layers underneath. The flaps in the rear pocket are perfect for keeping my phone secure in absence of a zipped valuables pocket. Sizing seems spot on and would definitely recommend.

About Assos

Swiss precision. Half a century of obsession.

Assos of Switzerland was founded in 1976 by Toni Maier-Moussa with a single ambition: reinvent cycling apparel from the inside out. The Lycra cycling short, modern bibs, the chamois as we know it — all began here. Half a century later, the obsession with precision and ride feel hasn't moved an inch.

Assos still designs and engineers every piece in Switzerland. The brand operates its own laboratory, its own development pool of test riders, and its own assembly line for the most demanding garments in the range.
