Removing the guesswork from both running and recovery, the Garmin Forerunner 245 GPS Watch offers personalised information regarding race preparation and recovery, helping make training far more effective. By measuring VO2 max it can calculate an individual’s performance condition and training status, and work out how best to improve, ensuring that there is sufficient recovery and no over-training. The Garmin Coach app provides free, personalised plans towards particular goals or races, and connects to the watch to provide the best workout.
The smartphone connectivity also means that the device can show notifications of incoming calls or texts, and automatically alert chosen contacts in the event of an incident whilst out training.
The Forerunner 245 can also monitor and analyse metrics such as cadence, stride length, ground contact time and balance, vertical oscillation and vertical ratio, the understanding of which are crucial to improving running form (with the addition of a compatible heart rate strap or running dynamics pod, sold separately).
