The Knight Composite 65 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset sits in the middle of the American company's wheel range. The ideal racer's wheelset, with a 65 millimetre deep rim, making it a fast, aerodynamic and stylish option for any road, time trial or triathlon bike.
Manufactured using Knight Composites' EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) construction process. This uses Toray carbon fibre, the same material used on Boeing’s 777 aeroplanes, and EPS, to produce a rim of exceptional quality. The EPS construction is also lightweight, strong and designed to dampen road buzz. This makes the 65 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset the perfect choice for long days in the saddle. These wheels also comply with all the recognised safety standards.
Knight Composites have produced a wheelset that can be ridden in the worst of winds. Addressing the issue of "wind steer", the designers have moved the lift to the rear of the wheel. This repositioning of lift means less watts are required to produce the same speed.
A race ready wheelset, the Trailing Edge Aerodynamic Manipulation process eliminates drag and enhances the airflow over the rim and tyre and improves the frame's aerodynamic efficiency. Such a rim design optimises the frame's shape and offers the best air trajectory. This makes this set significantly faster than a standard box section wheelset.
Able to fit a range of clincher tyres, the 28 millimetre width adds stability. Sapim have added 20 spokes on the front. These are a lightweight and durable option. On the rear, for added stiffness, 24 spokes have been used.
The inclusion of DT Swiss DT180 hubs is a sensible choice. With ceramic bearings and lighweight internals, this is one smooth hub set.
Best suited to flat or rolling road races, sportives and windy triathlons and time trials, the Knight Composites 65 Carbon Clincher DT180 Wheelset is available with either white or black graphics.
