I use these on all of my bikes (Enduro, Road, Single speed and hardtail mountain bikes), hard wearing and will last, of course a new pair will feel slightly 'fresher' along with new cleats in the shoes, with less up and down play, but they will still be going strong years down the line. I personally prefer the silver variation, I feel they look cleaner and when there's a bit of wear on them they fare better than the black ones where the black rubs away leaving uneven patches of chrome.

Q & A

5 questions answered

  1. Hi. Can you tell me which cleats these are compatible with please? I have a pair of muddyfox mtb shoes will they be compatible? And do I need any special grease or something to install them? Thanks, I'm considering these as my first pair of clipless.

    Asked by Jack (London)

    1. Hello, The cleats will come with the pedals - they are Shimano SPD cleats, part number SM-SH51 You will need to grease the pedal before installing, any thick grease is fine for this. Kind Regards, Oliver

    1. Hi Jorge, I can confirm that these pedals will be compatible with any shoes that use a 2-bolt SPD cleat pattern, such as either of the shoes mentioned above. Many thanks, Max

About Shimano

Shifting the way the world rides.

From a single Osaka workshop in 1921, Shimano has grown into the world's most influential component maker. The brand's relentless engineering — Dura-Ace, Ultegra, GRX, XTR — has shaped the way the world shifts, brakes and rides, on the road and off it.

Shimano's flagship groupset, Dura-Ace, has been the benchmark for top-level road components for more than five decades. Every refinement that lands on Dura-Ace eventually shapes the entire Shimano range, all the way down to entry-level drivetrains.
