A double-sided pedal offers the best of both worlds; the ability to clip in and maximise efficiency for long stints, without making the bike impossible to use in normal, casual shoes.
Very versatile thanks to single-sided SPD mechanism; turning them to face required side up is a compromise you’ll need to be willing to make. Flat side is very grippy and well shaped. Like the reflectors which help you to be identified as a cyclist in darkness.
