Specialized BG SL Footbed Green Insoles

Redesigned for lighter weight and more efficient power transfer, the Specialized BG SL Footbed Green Insoles Green have been ergonomically designed & scientifically tested. Body Geometry footbeds were co-developed with Andy Pruitt, Director of the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine, to customise fit and measurably improve performance.

Green footbed denotes significant support for people with standard or high arches.

Features
  • Body Geometry footbeds provide longitudinal arch & metatarsal support for a custom fit
  • By standing on the Specialized Arch-O-Meter, a rider can determine the optimum level of foot contour: Red = minimal contours for riders that prefer minimal support Blue = moderate (slightly higher longitudinal arch & metatarsal button) = for people with flat to standard arch Green = significant support = for people with standard or high arches
  • Body Geometry shim and wedges sold separately

Have suffered from a bit of left knee pain for many years and have tried all sorts of shoes with little difference and even using with pedals with lots of free float did not totally sort it. These were recommended in a bike fit so gave them a try with a pair of S-Works road shoes by replacing the standard insoles that have minimal arch support. Initially they felt odd and a bit uncomfortable with seemingly a big lump under my arch. However they did reduce my foot rolling in and my knee felt better for it. Have tried on a few more rides of varying intensity and feel much more used to them so will stick with them. Also showed them to my physio who is a good standard cyclist and he said they are good - stick with them. They add about 20g per shoe over the standard S-Works insoles but a good trade off if my knee is happier. Interestingly I am really more of a runner and have never needed any special insoles for that but seemingly cycling is different.

About Specialized

Innovate or die.

Founded in California in 1974, Specialized began with a simple promise: serious riders deserve serious gear. Half a century later, the brand still funds its own wind tunnel, builds its own carbon, and tests every bike with the world's best so that you ride your own best.

The first production mountain bike. The first cycling-specific shoes. FACT carbon, the Win Tunnel, S-Works. Specialized has a habit of building the things the rest of cycling ends up copying.
