Though exceptionally fast and able in both TT and triathlon, and backed up by numerous wins in both disciplines, the front end was structured like a Mecano set and a nightmare when trying to fit people to it, especially for long-distance events such as Ironman. Specialized, in their never ending quest to produce bikes that are fast, functional and user friendly, realised that another approach was necessary, and in a light bulb moment cut the Shiv into two halves, thus creating the totally UCI compliant Shiv TT as well as a dedicated, no-holds-barred tri bike, simply called Shiv.

The triathlon specific Shiv has been designed around life and needs of a triathlete. Everything important to this discipline has been addressed: wide adjustability for different types of events and different body shapes; an unrestrained aerodynamic chassis with a 4.1 ratio; onboard hydration; ease of use and travel-ability. The result is nothing short of brilliant; Specialized have produced a bike which takes away the need to think unnecessarily about the bike and leaves you free to address your all important training regimen instead.

The bike comes in 5 sizes and five models including an S-Works frameset module.
