Topeak Pakgo X Bike Transport System Case

Designed to meet the needs of the travelling, the Topeak Pakgo X Bike Transport System Case is a cleverly designed choice that offers supreme storage for bikes with a wheelbase up to 112cm. Providing tough external support by means of the polycarbonate external shell and reinforced aluminium internal frame, this bike case is made to withstand impacts that can occur whilst entrusting your bike to the airport handlers.

Mounting a frameset on the internal aluminium frame, it's locked into place using the QR or 12mm thru-axles, and the design requires only partial disassembly and assures you of absolute security when on the move. The internal mounting system also doubles up as a workstand. Inner pockets cater for additional accessories while two-wheel bags and a drivetrain cover protect the integrals of your bike, so you won't need to reindex upon arrival.

With protective coverings for the frame tubes and fork blades, this bag makes sure that your bike is well protected, while the integrated TSA lock ensures that no one is going to get at your bike without your approval. Rolling on four large 60mm multi-directional wheels for ease of use and manoeuvrability in real-world environments, this is a case that's sure to offer a better experience at the airport. Strategically placed ergonomic handles make for easy carrying, and this case comes in at just 9.3 kilos but weighs around 12.3kg when including the protective materials.

Please note, the bike pictured is not included.

I just bought a new road bike with disc brakes and because my partner and I travel together, I thought I'd better get another bike box. I also have an Evoc semi rigid bag (very light, can stuff kit and clothes in) which I have travelled all over the world with no problems at all, and also have used a BikeBox Alan half a dozen times. I wanted to get something easier to manoeuvre around since I don't drive and rely on the tube / cabs to and from airports. The Evoc was fine but I'm a bit concerned about bending a rotor. The Bikebox Alan type boxes are awkwardly shaped and you can't fit 2 in a car, trying to get it on to the tube / bus would usually cause public outcry. Also, I have an xs bike with 650c wheels, I would just prefer the box to not be enormous. After lengthy research, I came across Topeak Pakgo X which seems to tick all the boxes and comes with a bike stand! I went to Sigma and mentioned I wanted to see the box, the kind lady in the shop literally pulled out everything from under the staircase and pulled the box out from right at the back so I could have a look. Full mark on customer service! Happy to report that the packing process was a breeze and the least messy / least faff of all boxes - thanks to the stand, the chain tension holder, the thoughtfully provided chainring wrap and handle bar velcro tape. I was originally concerned with compatibility issue with disc brake / through axle etc, but they've literally thought of everything and came with all attachments. With the bike (about 7.5kg), tools and a spare chainset (another story) in the box, it came to 22.2kg. Wheeling it through the airport was super easy, I could even wheel it with one hand on the box, one hand on a trolley. Check in staff didn't bat an eyelid, a few people in the queue marvelled at how nice the box is. The box arrived on the belt at Heathrow, so I unzipped and checked it's content, all in tack and not a scratch. Obviously it was the day when the lifts didn't work at Heathrow, I was forced to take it down the escalator... interestingly, it fitted perfectly on one step! Phew.... and on to the Piccadilly line it went and it fitted snugly at the end of a carriage out of the way. I wheeled it over some ramps and 400m of pavement home. In the sale, it was similar price to a Bikebox Alan or Velovault, slightly more expensive than an Evoc bag or Bonza, but I reckon this really is the bee's knees. Instead of what other companies do - keep copying each other, Topeak came up with a brand new idea and addressed to what a travelling cyclist's need. Having a stand to take the bike apart and putting it back together is totally the way forward.

oleg_ku,

Excellent case to pack and roll. Great attention to details. I also own scicon 3.0, but that one doesn’t accommodate my inflated tubeless tyres. Topeak is more universal case. Included platform is a joy when assembling bike away from home.
