1) Measure around the chest at the fullest part just under the arms.
2) Measure around the waist over the belly button.
3) Measure over the hip bones at the strongest point when standing.
4) Measure from the crotch to the base of the ankle bone.
I've not had Ale shorts before and so was unsure of their sizing as i'm a regular sized chap. As usual, i was on the limit of 2 sizes and thankfully went for the smaller Large size. I'm 33" waist and these are snug but after a couple of long rides they are just right for cycling but still feel a little tight when i put them on. The sale price is cheap compared to their competitors and they feel better than my usual DHB shorts. Great service as always from Sigma
