This device is for removing square taper cranks. It works whether the crank is secured by a bolt which is removed, or via a nut which is removed (i.e. the device can tolerate either a tapped hole or a threaded bolt remaining inside the crank when it is pulled). I cleaned-up the thread inside the crank, applied plenty of grease to the puller and found that it pulled the crank with relative ease. Strongly recommended.
