Roval Rapide CLX II Disc Rear Wheel
Meticulously designed and manufactured to provide the speed of a time trial wheel with the low weight and easy handling of a climbing set-up, the tubeless-ready Roval Rapide CLX II Disc Rear Wheel is destined for success at the highest levels of pro cycling.
The rim features a hooked design that can accommodate both tubeless and tubed tyres, giving the best of both worlds, and has been slightly reduced in size to give a little more slack to make fitting tight tyres easier. The precise carbon layup and profile are the result of countless hours of testing and prototypes, with Roval claiming that as a wheelset it is faster than most 65mm wheelsets but 25% more stable than their CLX50 in crosswinds. Particular attention was paid to make sure that the profile handled well in gusts that last between 0.5 and 2 seconds, as these are the durations that cause particular issues for riders; any shorter and the rider can’t react anyway and any longer and the rider can compensate for the effect of the wind.
The Aeroflange hub makes use of DT Swiss’ top-tier 180 internals, with SINC ceramic bearings for less drag and more durability whilst the freehub has the EXP Ratchet internals that increase durability and give near instantaneous engagement when powering out of corners or sprinting for the line. The build is laced together with premium DT Swiss aerolite spokes, which are their lightest and most aerodynamic offering, to complete an incredibly high-performance package.
