Santa Cruz Blur Carbon CC XX1 AXS TR Reserve 29" Mountain Bike 2020
A heady combination of race-ready speed and trail ability, the Santa Cruz Blur Carbon CC XX1 Reserve 29” Mountain Bike is perhaps the ultimate iteration of this bike. The 100mm travel frame is stiff and light thanks to the CC carbon layup and twin upright rear triangle, whilst the Kashima coated FOX Float Factory DPS rear shock and VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) provides plush suspension without any associated bobbing. This TR version benefits from an uprated 110mm travel fork with 34mm stanchions for increased stiffness and a slacker head angle, along with beefier Maxxis Rekon tyres and a RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper seatpost for extra confidence on steep descents and technical ground.
SRAM’s 12-speed XX1 Eagle AXS groupset is not only electronic but fully wireless too, with instant shifts actuated by a light press of a button. Certain aspects of the system are customisable via the AXS smartphone app as well as offering the ability to monitor battery life. The beautiful rainbow coloured 10-50 tooth cassette that is included deserves a special mention simply for its unique aesthetic.
Braking is taken care of by high-performance SRAM Level Ultimate brakes with carbon levers, specifically shaped calipers and an improved heat management system. The wheelset uses Santa Cruz Reserve 25 Carbon rims on DT Swiss 240 hubs, with DT Swiss Competition Race spokes, to create a lightweight build that is also stiff and strong enough to cope with the more demanding terrain that the bike is intended for.
