Description
Specialized are the masters in mountain bike design and technology, creating a wide range of bikes for a range of disciplines and budgets. The Specialized Epic Carbon Comp is the most affordable offering in the Epic range. Taking the mountain bike world by storm, Specialized have created the Epic for those who like to ride the trails hard, whether that be racing or on a muddy, Sunday morning over in the forest with your friends. The Specialized Epic Carbon Comp features 29 inch wheels, uses state of the art FACT IS 9m Carbon Fibre, Silky smooth SRAM groupset and featherweight light, responsive Roval wheels. A very enticing package made even more special with FOX, SID and Specialized suspension and dampening technology, making this one of the most competent cross country mountain bikes on the market.
The FACT IS 9m Carbon Fibre frame has internal cable routing allowing for a clean look and keeping cables mud free and performing at their best for longer. M5 seatstays have long been a trusted and familiar feature on Specialized mountain bikes, providing sensational ride quality and keeping the weight of the frame down.
Specialized have a long history with sponsoring and working with the World’s best mountain bike racers. The S-Works range uses Specialized’s race pedigree and technology and channels it into their products. The S-Works Fast Trak 2.0", 2Bliss Ready front tyre is just one of those products. Consisting of a dual compound rubber that results in sensational speed and grip, whilst keeping the rolling weight down, allowing pin-sharp handling and an aggressive ride. The perfect tyre for speeding round a twisty wooded stretch of singletrack.
Upfront and Specialized have invested in a custom RockShox SID fork, providing 100mm of travel. Combining this with a 15mm thru-axle, it results in a high performance, adjustable suspension fork.
Technology packed, Specialized have worked with Fox, the suspension specialists, to develop the Mini-Brain Interia Valve Shock. Sounds like a part found on a space shuttle? Well it’s just as state of the art. This system, using Specialized’s AUTOSAG package, new, lighter for 2014, providing sublime trail dampening performance, with finger touch, easy to hand, precise adjustment, for whatever terrain you are riding over.
New for 2014, after years of development Specialized has launched the SWAT System, which stands for storage, water, air and tools. Basically a means of carrying all your training or race day essentials, discretely, aerodynamically and efficiently on your bike.
The SWAT System is multi-talented offering mechanical storage, easy to hand water-carrying capabilities, paired together for the ultimate rider support system.
Shimano has been mixed with SRAM components to provide reliable, lightweight and smooth 10-speed gearing, making it perfect for a multitude of different terrains. Formula C-1 hydraulic brakes are incredibly responsive, reliable and give great feedback for the rider.
To finish this sensational cross country bike off Specialized have used Roval 29 inch rims and paired them with durable, lightweight DT Swiss spokes for the ultimate set of fast, stiff wheels.
Available in a range of sizes and a very attractive carbon colour scheme, so nice in fact you may think twice about getting it dirty!
