I bought this to fit to my reasonably old mountain bike. Little did I know how insane the 8Nm tightening force was for a lightweight chromo steel frame. My ‘92 GT Tequesta was pulverised by the ridiculously high torque. Upon contacting Thule the pointed to the small print that states ‘check suitability with bike manufacturers’ - difficult even in hindsight with a bike of this age but even with a new bike its not accessible information for bike frames. Thule offered some compensation but the whole thing makes me sick, ruining a bike ive had for years. Go for the rack mount unless your bike weighs 40kg

My mountain bike has a cable running down the seat axle. Can the clamp accomodate for it, if not how thick is the clamp?
Hi there, The frame-mounted Yepp 2 Maxi clamps to a round metal seat tube between 28 and 40mm, with nothing running underneath the clamp. If a cable runs down the seat tube where the bracket sits, or the tube is carbon or a shaped profile, the frame mount isn't suitable. In that case the rack-mounted version of the Yepp 2 Maxi is the safe option. Many thanks
