The Trek Fuel EX 5 Deore 29" Mountain Bike is a fantastic value, all-purpose trail bike with the ability to do pretty much everything. The aluminium frame has 130mm of travel from its RockShox Deluxe Select Plus shock unit and features a Mino Link in the rocker that can be flipped to slacken the head tube angle and lower the bottom bracket height for more high-speed stability. The frame also has a Knock Block headset to prevent the fork from hitting the downtube and an Active Braking Pivot (ABP) rear triangle so that the rear suspension can stay supple under braking forces.

The RockShox Recon RL Solo Air spring fork provides 140mm of front end travel and uses a Motion Control damper to help keep the front wheel gripping the ground. Paired with this capable frameset is Shimano’s reliable workhorse 10-speed Deore groupset which offers great value and tireless performance. The 27.5” wheels used on these smaller frame sizes keeps the handling consistent with the larger sizes which use 29” wheels, and still use Boost spaced hubs for greater stiffness and handling accuracy. The inclusion of a TranzX dropper seatpost to lower the saddle on the fly is very welcome for added confidence on steep drops.
