Trek Madone SLR 6 eTap Gen 7 Disc Road Bike
As fast as it is eye-catching, Trek's Madone SLR 6 eTap Gen 7 Disc Road Bike is all about speed.
The frame features an interrupted IsoFlow seat tube that acts as both an aerodynamic aid and provides the compliance that makes it easier to maintain power output over longer distances. As air hits the head tube of the bike, it is channelled backwards over the frame towards the large hole and into the area of low pressure behind the rider, reducing drag. The comfort is provided by the flex in the floating seat tube, which absorbs bumps and vibrations from poor roads without reducing the effectiveness of the frame's power transfer.
Elsewhere, Kamm tail tube shapes further reduce drag, with the oversized down tube helping to protect the bottle and cage area. The bike’s cockpit has been totally overhauled, with a new stem and handlebar arrangement that has the hoods 3cm further inboard than the drops to significantly reduce the rider’s frontal area whilst still allowing full control of the steering.
Deep Bontrager Aeolus Pro 51 OCLV Carbon wheels continue the aerodynamic theme and can be set up tubeless if so desired for a further reduction in rolling resistance and an increase in comfort.
Fully wireless, SRAM’s 12-speed Rival eTap AXS groupset includes a power meter for more targetted training or measured race efforts along with Bluetooth connectivity so that certain functions can be monitored or customised via the AXS app.
