Trek Madone SLR 9 Disc Road Bike 2020
Fast and comfortable used to be a tall order when it came to road bikes, but Trek’s Madone SLR 9 Disc Road Bike manages both by using a highly aerodynamic carbon frameset that incorporates their innovative IsoSpeed decoupler which allows the seat tube and seatpost to move independently of the frame with that movement controlled by an adjustable damper. Comfort is also potentially improved by the frame now having sufficient clearance for 28mm tyres.
Alongside the aero tube set, drag is also reduced by the addition of 60mm deep Bontrager Aeolus XXX 6 carbon wheels and fully internal cable routing for both the gear and brake cables. The Madone SLR 9 uses Trek’s H1.5 geometry which allows for a low, wind-cheating position without being too uncomfortable for longer rides. The micro-adjust seatpost, stem and handlebar are all easy to personalise for a perfect fit, with the two piece stem/bar combination offering the aero advantages of an integrated system without the fixed position.
Electronic shifting and hydraulic brakes come courtesy of Shimano’s top tier Dura-Ace Di2 groupset for snappy shifting at the touch of a button and easily modulated stopping power.
