The Bontrager Ion 100 R Front Light is designed as an urban commuter light and for daytime visibility. With five modes and a maximum output of 100 lumens, this light is easy to pick out. Bontrager has strategically developed an interrupting flash pattern for its bike lights to draw the attention of other road users and the ambient light sensor helps to conserve battery when it is daytime. Burn times run from 1.5 to 16 hours depending on mode and with the included micro USB charging cable, you will be right back up to full charge in no time.
Since buying this I've used on every ride. I like my cockpit to be tidy so the gopro style mount that attaches under my Wahoo. This light is great. I use the flashing in the day (I worry about oncoming cars overtaking slower cars and not seeing me). But it would also be great as a day light and a light to get you through European tunnels. It's tiny and unobtrusive.
I bought this light for daytime visibility after purchasing the Flare R rear light. The light is bright, great for the purpose purchased, it's small and weighs virtually nothing. I have given this 4 stars only as the runtime for auto flash day at the best was only 3.5 hours not the 5 hours quoted in the literature. However notwithstanding this I would still recommend this light.
