The Garmn Edge 850 is a compact GPS bike computer featuring a vivid colour touchscreen with button controls. It provides riders with insights, guidance, and fuelling advice to help optimise performance. Some training and performance functions require a compatible heart rate monitor, power meter, or both.
While following a workout or using power guide, the device offers guidance on carbohydrate intake in grams and hydration in millilitres. Alerts are tailored to the rider’s current fitness, course demands, and environmental conditions including heat and humidity.
Riders can train for events, reach milestones, or improve overall fitness with personalised Garmin Coach plans. Cycling-specific plans adapt to training progress, recovery, and the demands of the course.
The Edge 850 provides insights backed by sports science, including power guide metrics, real-time stamina, cycling ability, and more.
Riders can monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions mid-ride. When paired with a smartphone and the Garmin Connect™ app, the device displays radar and wind direction overlays.
During group rides, riders can stay connected with in-ride messaging, live location sharing, and incident detection alerts. Leaderboards for climbs and real-time comparisons with other riders are also available.
For mid-ride snacks or post-ride coffee, riders can make purchases on the go using Garmin Pay with participating providers.
I’ve been waiting for this for a long time and I’m not disappointed with it. I’ve probably got a bit of low battery anxiety, following some social media posts, however so far no problems for me. Fabulous display and although a bit of a novelty, the bike bell is a good addition to have. 👌
