Here’s a casual-style 3-liner on the Garmin Forerunner 970 from a cyclist/health-nerd lens: ⸻ Pretty much a mini bike computer on your wrist — spot-on GPS/multiband tracking, offline mapping and fast UI make route-following and segment hunting feel slick. It’s also a beast at health metrics: HRV, pulse ox, running and recovery analytics keep you honest off the bike, too. Add strong battery life and a built-in flashlight, and it’s not just a sports watch — it’s a serious tool for better, smarter training.

ross,

Just like my previous 935, the barometer doesn't work correctly and there is no way to ensure activities record solely with DEM. This means that I have to change elevation source for EVERY SINGLE ACTIVITY I record on this watch, which is a pain. Automatic uploads to TrainingPeaks require deleting, change elevation, re-upload (!!!), or my TSS is out by a significant margin. My Garmin Connect app also thinks I'm acclimatised to 1,000m+ elevation all the time. I live in one of the lowest points in the UK. For £650 this is extremely poor.

About Garmin

Data, in the hands of the riders who act on it.

Garmin has been navigating riders, runners and explorers since 1989. From the original GPS unit to today's Edge cycling computers and Forerunner watches, every product is built to put rich, accurate data into the hands of the people who'll act on it.

The Edge range is the most widely used cycling computer line in the world. Mapping, power, training load, structured workouts, group ride messaging, incident detection — Edge has set the bar most other head units now chase.
