Lake's CX242 Road Cycling Shoes are ideal for riders that suffer with bunions or other foot problems and struggle to find a comfortable pair. A uniquely designed upper, constructed from full grain leather or Clarino Microfibre, with a breathable, moisture managing NuFoam liner, uses panels of carbon to create six independent zones. The result is fine-tuned pressure and a fit that accommodates a range of foot shapes and sizes. Together with a heat mouldable heel counter, the shoes feel custom designed for the rider, and there's less chances of any heel slip when putting down the power.
Lake CX242 Highlights
A Competition last, aimed at performance riding with higher cadences, provides increased toe pitch and heel lift, a tighter heel, and a slightly wider ball girth to allow the foot to expand under high pedalling pressures.
The outsole is 100% carbon, helping keep weight down while maximising stiffness for improved pedalling efficiency. Two Boa dials secure each shoe around each foot, and allow for micro-adjustments mid-ride, so you can tighten up ready for a sprint, or drop the pressure when you're taking it easy.
Sizing note:
Lake shoes run small. We recommend sizing up — most customers find they need one full size larger than their usual EU size. If you're between sizes, always go up. This applies to both the standard and wide fit versions.

Take your foot measurement in a standing position while wearing your cycling socks.
Step 1: Trace your foot onto a sheet of paper. After you trace your foot take a ruler and make a line to mark the furthest point on all four sides as shown below.
Step 2: Length measurement (Points 1 to 2 as shown below). Use a millimeter ruler to get the measurement of the longest distance from heel to longest toe (first or second toe).
Step 3: Width measurement (Points 3 to 4 as shown below). Use a millimeter ruler to get the measurement of the widest distance of foot from side to side.
Step 4: Repeat steps for other foot as your feet may be different sizes. Typically you will want shoes that accommodate your largest foot the most comfortably.
*Add +5mm to your measured length to get correct shoe length.

I bought these shoes because of a problem with the previous pair of Lake shoes that I bought, also from Sigma. Sigma have always been great on customer service. However, Sigma’s advice to contact Lake regarding the fact that my shoe was damaged by the loss of three heels in three years, has been met by appalling customer service from Lake. I’m 63 yrs old and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such irritating and unhelpful customer service from a company/brand who have simply suggested that I could have 30% off a further pair of shoes that I don’t need!!! No help whatsoever and, the opposite, it has really annoyed me.
