I swapped out a short cage 5800 derailleur for this long cage unit to support a 32 cassette. The new R7000 design noticeably reduces chain slap. Shifting performance may be marginally better than the 5800, but not a huge difference. The new design means the R7000 stays quite compact, though the cable routing means you need to take care of the cable end, as it can poke into the spokes (keep it short and give it a slight bend).

Does this come with the OT-RS900 outer cable casing?
Hi there, No this does not, Many thanks Joe W
Hi, I need to replace my broken 105 rear mech. My cassette is CS-5800, 11-32T and chain set is 50-34T, so I think i need a medium length derailleur. Can you please clarify if this item is a short or medium?
Hello, I can confirm that this is a medium cage derailleur, so will work with your 32t cassette. Many Thanks Liam
will this work as a direct replacement for my older 105 5700 10 speed cassette ? 12 - 28 ?
Hi Danny, No, this won't be compatible. You'll need to use a Shimano 105 5700, or Ultegra 6700 rear 10-speed derailleur. Unfortunately, these are not items we currently supply. Kind Regards, Oliver
About Shimano
Shifting the way the world rides.
From a single Osaka workshop in 1921, Shimano has grown into the world's most influential component maker. The brand's relentless engineering — Dura-Ace, Ultegra, GRX, XTR — has shaped the way the world shifts, brakes and rides, on the road and off it.
Shimano's flagship groupset, Dura-Ace, has been the benchmark for top-level road components for more than five decades. Every refinement that lands on Dura-Ace eventually shapes the entire Shimano range, all the way down to entry-level drivetrains.
