Performance & Use Case
The Shimano Tiagra 4700 10-Speed Chainset is the entry-tier road chainset for 10-speed Shimano drivetrains. Two compact chainring ratio options cover endurance and general training use - 48/34 is climbing-friendly with a slightly lower top-end, 50/34 is the all-purpose compact.
Construction & Materials
CNC-machined alloy crank arms with the HollowTech II 24mm spindle integrated into the drive-side crank. Tiagra-tier construction prioritises durability and value over weight saving.
Compatibility & Variants
Shimano 10-speed road drivetrain - Tiagra and earlier 10-speed groupsets. Requires a HollowTech II-compatible bottom bracket. Available in three crank lengths (170mm, 172.5mm, 175mm) and two chainring ratios (48/34, 50/34). Select the length and ratio that match your bike fit and terrain.

Q & A

My drive chain is Sora 3500…GS rear derailleur, 105 front derailleur, 11-32 cassette and Sora 3500 shifters and a 9 speed KMC chain. All 9 speed. I would prefer 165mm crank arms rather than 170mm.Would the Tiagra FC-4700 work in my setup? Sora are 170mm.
Hi there, Yes this will work with your setup, The only thing you will feel is a slightly slower front shift, Many thanks Joe W
The description say 50/34 chainrings, but the headline says 48/34. Can you confirm please.
Hi there, This is 48/34 I have requested this changed on the site Many thanks Joe W

Hi there, Yes this will work with your setup, Many thanks Joe W
About Shimano
Shifting the way the world rides.
From a single Osaka workshop in 1921, Shimano has grown into the world's most influential component maker. The brand's relentless engineering — Dura-Ace, Ultegra, GRX, XTR — has shaped the way the world shifts, brakes and rides, on the road and off it.
Shimano's flagship groupset, Dura-Ace, has been the benchmark for top-level road components for more than five decades. Every refinement that lands on Dura-Ace eventually shapes the entire Shimano range, all the way down to entry-level drivetrains.
