Specialized S-Works Ares 2 Road Cycling Shoes

An evolution of the original Ares and refined thanks to input from World Tour riders, the Specialized S-Works Ares 2 Road Cycling Shoes have been re-engineered to ensure mind-blowing power transfer, an even better fit and greater comfort while also offering a claimed 7 watts of power increase as you hit race speeds. A wider toebox improves comfort when pressing hard on the pedals for prolonged periods and an improved footbed provides even greater foot support and stability for a smooth and efficient pedal stroke. It's the ultimate shoe for racers seeking a stable and secure feel without sacrificing comfort.

Highlights of the S-Works Ares 2

With over 100,000 foot scans and over 2000 hours of ride testing, the scientifically proven Body Geometry Last now features a wider toe box to allow a more natural and comfortable splay of the toes and has led to significantly reduced forefoot pressure. The BG Last follows the natural shape of the foot and gives a harmonious blend of power, efficiency, and comfort. The Specialized Ares 2 still features the innovative Body Geometry and ergonomics of the original Ares, including Varus Wedge, Metatarsal Button and Longitudinal Arch in the outsole, delivering exceptional pedalling comfort.

Updates include improvements to the forefoot lockdown zone, a patented triangulated closure system that increases contact surface by 20% and gives the 'locked-in' feel needed when you're surging ahead of the pack or pushing big watts on steep bergs. An enlarged heel counter also provides extra foot stabilisation and the supple upper gives a truly connected feel to your bike. When every watt counts and you want an edge on the competition, the Ares 2 shoes come into their own.

Since they’re not made of Leather, initially there are very uncomfortable… In addition to the lack of arch support; the foot tray has weak borders. Causing the foot to shift around inside the shoe during engagement.. Good positioning of the BOA’s. However, the only real support you have is from the top of the shoe. And you really need to tighten down in order to stop your foot from shifting around inside the shoe. Great Toe Box. But the rest of the shoe still needs a lot of work.

About Specialized

Innovate or die.

Founded in California in 1974, Specialized began with a simple promise: serious riders deserve serious gear. Half a century later, the brand still funds its own wind tunnel, builds its own carbon, and tests every bike with the world's best so that you ride your own best.

The first production mountain bike. The first cycling-specific shoes. FACT carbon, the Win Tunnel, S-Works. Specialized has a habit of building the things the rest of cycling ends up copying.
