I wanted to add some link pliers to my kit as I tour full time, touring means that having something small and light as possible with as many functions as can be is a great advantage. This tool looked excellent and I was impressed how light it is. I never used link pliers before as I usually had no trouble doing the master links on KMC chains by hand, but recently struggled with the chain I had and when I saw this tiny tool, and that it could also house spare links and offer me some other advantages when I switch ti tubeless, I convinced myself to pay the fairly high price. I replaced my chain the day I got these pliers, the KMC link popped loose with ease and the new one fastened the same.. except for one problem: I had added two spare KMC 10s links in the holding part and, although the magnet will stop then from falling out, they remain somewhat loose and get in the way of actually using the pliers. For smooth action you need to remove the links, or perhaps can use a very thin tape to hold them in place (rendering the magnet useless). This was pretty disappointing to me for the money as it appeared I could use it any time with the links in place, not having to worry about losing them on the trail if the tool is needed. Hopefully WolfTooth will update this with a larger magnet section which can hold the whole links stable rather than just keeping the ends to the tool, then this would be really great. I still like the tool and I think they are the lightest and most packable link pliers on the market, but I’m not sure I would have pair the times the price of a different pair if I’d known they wouldn’t hold the links tight. I haven’t used as a tyre lever and wouldn’t unless it were an emergency as it will obviously strip the paint from my rims, but I’m glad it’s there. The presta core remover and valve nut parts work perfectly.

This is an excellent addition to my trail/road side mergency kit and ocmplements my multitool which has a chain link breaker but no tool to assist in putting on/removing a master link. I know in theory these can be done by hand but I have never managed it. The tool is light and slim and easily tucked into a pocket for those long days in the saddle.
