##ISM PL 1.1 Saddle As the upgrade from their highly popular Prologue saddle, the ISM PL 1.1 Saddle has a few subtle features to enhance the ride quality for both time trial riders and triathletes. The first upgrade is the 135mm rear section, which increases the comfort and stability when climbing. Ideal for sitting back and just spinning up the climbs. The increased level of padding on the PL 1.1 Saddle is also ideal for riders who wear thin-triathlon style shorts, or for anyone who just wants a more cushioned ride. Although the saddle is 270mm long and 135mm wide, it features a nose-less design that removes pressure from soft tissue. This ensures maximum blood flow around your sensitive areas, reducing any numbness for a much more enjoyable ride.

I decided on ISM for the bike on my indoor trainer where I seem to experience more saddle issues (numbness) than on the road (not sure why). Initially I tried the PN 3.0 and it was very hard and uncomfortable - no way could I get used to it. So opted for the PL 1.1. This is much better, softer and more comfortable than the PN; no numbness issues at all in several weeks now. That problem does seem to go away with ISM but it is still pretty sore on my sit-bones. All that weight off the soft tissues has to go somewhere (as ISM say) but it goes on the bones and after 90 minutes I have had eneough. I will stick with this for indoor turbo sessions but I would not risk it on the road over longer periods. ISM is also quite difficult to fit - to get the advised set back (5-8cm) it fixes to the seat post right on the very front of the rails. If the saddle is fitted any further forward at all it is too far forward and the whole point of the design is lost.

My new bike came with a decent enough saddle, but not good enough over 50 miles. Swapping saddles was ok for a couple of rides. My othe bike has an PR 2.0 -40 which I don't tend to notice these days it's so comfortable. As I'm approaching 75, I thought a should go for a slightly wider but same firmness saddle. I've now done some 500 miles with the PL 1.1 - 40 mostly over 50 miles a ride, the perfect saddle for me.
