Product Details

Premium materials and a detail-focused construction make the Lake CX238 Wide Fit Road Cycling Shoes a great option for tough training rides and races alike. The upper uses a soft leather and mesh that ensure good ventilation and a form fit, with the Outlast heel and tongue lining helping to regulate your temperature. No watts will be lost thanks to a stiff carbon sole transferring your power and the dual Boa and lace system secures the shoe to prevent slipping under high pressures such as during climbing and sprinting. The outer surface has added protection around the heel and toe areas to reduce scuffs and scratches.

Sizing note:

Lake shoes run small. We recommend sizing up — most customers find they need one full size larger than their usual EU size. If you're between sizes, always go up. This applies to both the standard and wide fit versions.

Take your foot measurement in a standing position while wearing your cycling socks.

Step 1: Trace your foot onto a sheet of paper. After you trace your foot take a ruler and make a line to mark the furthest point on all four sides as shown below.

Step 2: Length measurement (Points 1 to 2 as shown below). Use a millimeter ruler to get the measurement of the longest distance from heel to longest toe (first or second toe).

Step 3: Width measurement (Points 3 to 4 as shown below). Use a millimeter ruler to get the measurement of the widest distance of foot from side to side.

Step 4: Repeat steps for other foot as your feet may be different sizes. Typically you will want shoes that accommodate your largest foot the most comfortably.

*Add +5mm to your measured length to get correct shoe length.

My second pair of these shoes, by far the best shoes I've ever used. Super comfy and very supportive. Stiff without being uncomfortable. My first pair are over 3 years old and still look like new. I only bought these o es as I fancied a white pair.

I bought these based Bike Fit James from Francis Cade’s YouTube channel’s recommendation and have not been disappointed. I followed the detailed advice on the Lake website on choosing the correct size (one size up from what I normally wear), the result being that my toes are no longer squashed and hot spots, numbness and pins & needles are significantly reduced. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I’ve owned. Nearly £300 may sound like a large outlay but for the improvement in the quality of my ride and the length of time I can stay in the saddle, I consider it money well spent.

Q & A

13 questions answered

  1. My foot length as per measurement is 264mm and width is 105mm, I normally wear a 42.5 in sneakers. Should I get 42 in lake or 42.5?

Asked by Sharoon (London uk) —

    1. Hi there, Looking at the sizing chart you will need a EU42 in this, Many thanks Joe W

  2. Is the Lake CX238 Standard Fit wider than the Lake CX177 in Wide Fit? I know that Lake has different lasts but I'm not sure about this. I'm currently wearing the Lake CX177 Wide.

    Asked by Louis —

    1. Hi there, Please contact the Customer Care Team directly and they can look into this for you, Many thanks Joe W

  3. From what I've read in product reviews, CX328s are true to size. Following Lake's Sizing Guide, my shoe size comes out as EU42.5. However, my "normal" shoe size is EU44 to EU44.5! What size(s) should I order?

    Asked by Phippster —

    1. I'm now able to answer my own question: Having communicated with Lakes themselves, I can confirm that the CX238s sizing as per the Measured Length (+ 7mm) given in their Sizing Chart is definitely correct. The CX238s in EU42.5 fit me perfectly, despite my "normal" shoe size being EU44/EU44.5.
