Compared to the standard fit, which I found too narrow, these are excellent. They don't look much wider, but the toe box is more spacious and also narrow enough at the heel. High quality. I generally wear a 47 in trainers (most brands) and sized up to a 48 in this shoe for a perfect fit. Very happy with the Boa system also.

Shimano XC302 MTB Shoes
The Shimano XC302 MTB Shoes pack in a lot for the money, the first premium feature being the precise BOA® Fit System. Paired with an engineered lacing pattern, this fit system ensures balanced forefoot comfort throughout your ride. The micro-adjustable dial closure eliminates pressure points while providing consistent tension across the upper. The surround-wrapping upper structure creates a glove-like fit that reduces bulk and overlap, while the perforated synthetic leather composite construction enhances breathability during more intense efforts. With an integrated, seamless midsole and upper design, these shoes provide superior stability, keeping your foot perfectly positioned over the pedals and translating every watt of power directly to forward momentum.
The lightweight glass-fibre-reinforced nylon sole delivers optimal power transfer with a stiffness rating of 5/12, ideal for recreational and competitive riders who want efficiency without the harsh rigidity of race-specific shoes. The low stack height midsole keeps your foot close to the pedal for enhanced stability and control, whilst the rubber XC racing outsole provides confident grip whether you're navigating technical singletrack or walking through the café afterwards.
Sizing note:
Shimano shoes run small. For example, if you usually wear a 44, order a 45 here. If you're between half sizes, always go up.
Pedal Compatibility
These off-road shoes are compatible with MTB and trekking pedal systems utilising the 2-bolt cleat system such as Shimano SPD, Look Trekking and X-Track, crank brothers Candy etc..

About Shimano
Shifting the way the world rides.
From a single Osaka workshop in 1921, Shimano has grown into the world's most influential component maker. The brand's relentless engineering — Dura-Ace, Ultegra, GRX, XTR — has shaped the way the world shifts, brakes and rides, on the road and off it.
Shimano's flagship groupset, Dura-Ace, has been the benchmark for top-level road components for more than five decades. Every refinement that lands on Dura-Ace eventually shapes the entire Shimano range, all the way down to entry-level drivetrains.
