Fundamentally the stem is the same is the previous iteration; it's identical in shape and stiffness and weight. I personally prefer the new matt finish to the shiny finish as it's more understated although the logos do look a bit naff to me. The packaging also incorrectly states the material as 6061 aluminium but Zipp confirmed to me that it's definitely 7075 for the SL version. The big let down for me was that Zipp no longer include the matching top cap. Overall I feel I'm getting a lesser product for more money.

  1. Does this stem come with the top cap?

    1. Hi there, The stem itself doesn't come with a headset top cap. Zipp sell the Service Course SL top cap as a separate spare part, so you'd add one if you need it. If you're replacing like for like, the cap and bolt from your current setup will usually carry over. Many thanks Joe W

  3. Hey! Can you please tell me what the exact height of the stem is where it attaches to the steerer tube? My steerer tube has been cut down so only can fit a stem with 41mm height. Thanks!
