Having had a cheap hanger alignment tool for many years, I gave up on it recently when trying to check the alignment on my 11sp setup as there was so much play in the system that the pointer at the rim could be out by more than +/- 6mm which is no good if you're aiming for 1mm. The Abbey tools HAG on the other hand is just superb. It's super-compact for storage but telescopes out when in use to the required length and even when at full stretch there's practically zero play at the rim; it's been manufactured to *very* tight tolerances and it shows. My only criticism (apart from price :-)) is that there is nothing to stop the green sleeve part from sliding (slowly) off the shaft with the 'T'-bar, so if you let it dangle for any length of time the green bit will hit the deck (or your foot). It is however a lovely bit of engineering excellence and a pleasure to use.
