Have worn the Spec. Prevail through all of its previous iteration and has for many years been my go to helmet of choice. The "3" is such a disappointment in comparison. It sits much higher on my head but worst of all Spec. have changed the shape and hence sizing of the helmet. It is now much more of a "bowl" like Giro which does not suit my head at all. As a result, the medium, which I have always worn, is far too small and the large is like a dustbin, in fact so huge I can turn it around on my head! Why in the name of progress have they messed with a previously great lid? I am now searching for another helmet to relpace my "worn out Prevail 2.
Product Details
An all-rounder that excels when the sun is beating down or the road is pointing up, the Specialized S-Works Prevail 3 Helmet is Specialized's most ventilated to date. Re-writing the rulebook, foam bridges have been removed from the centre to create thru-air channels, essentially increasing ventilation surface area by 24.5% compared to the S-Works Prevail II Vent.
S Works Prevail 3 Highlights
Previously, EPS foam has been used to dissipate energy in the event of an impact. Extensive research and development led to Specialized minimising the use of conventional EPS foam, coming up with a more innovative solution. AirCage technology incorporates woven aramid cables that traverse the helmet and are connected to carbon side panels. When impact occurs, AirCage acts like a suspension bridge, effectively distributing force. As well as enhancing safety, this system is responsible for the significant increase in airflow. Accompanying AirCage is MIPS' Air Node, their lightest rotational impact protection system, which is incorporated into the padding for improved comfort and integration, with the same safety advantages.
Fit can be dialled in to suit a wider range of head sizes and shapes thanks to the use of a Mindset micro-dial system and Occipital Base Adjustment, and a tri-fix web splitter ensures strap comfort.
Want a combination of this helmet's ventilation and the aerodynamic perks of the S-Works Evade? Check out the Propero 4.

Reviews
The helmet is no good for bald men, the gaps are too wide and the sun will burn your head. Probably not good in the winter months either. I sent it back for a full refund.

About Specialized
Innovate or die.
Founded in California in 1974, Specialized began with a simple promise: serious riders deserve serious gear. Half a century later, the brand still funds its own wind tunnel, builds its own carbon, and tests every bike with the world's best so that you ride your own best.
The first production mountain bike. The first cycling-specific shoes. FACT carbon, the Win Tunnel, S-Works. Specialized has a habit of building the things the rest of cycling ends up copying.
