June Challenge Ride - 23rd June - 77-93km
Time: Meet at 8:15am for a 8:30am departure
Where: Sigma Sports Store, Hampton Wick, Surrey
This ride has now ended.
Ride with us this June as we as we partner up with nutrition brand Maurten and industry-leading eyewear brand Oakley, and head out past Guildford into the beautiful town of Normandy, celebrating endless daylight and long hours in the saddle.
We’ll be leaving the shop at 8.30am on Sunday, 23rd June for a relatively flat ride, covering a distance of between 77-93km and climbing between 498-696m, depending on the group you choose. Before we set off you're invited to borrow one of Oakley's high-performance demo glasses for the ride. Just remember to bring some form of ID to leave behind.
Heading out through Molesey and Chertsey, we will ride past Woking and Farnborough before we reach Normandy, a charming town in the middle of Guildford. After stopping for a quick refuel with this month’s nutrition partner Maurten, the perfect companion for a long day in the saddle, we will head back via Send and Cobham before we return to our Sigma Sports store.
There will be three different groups covering different routes. These will vary in speed and difficulty to cater for all fitness abilities.
Group 1 will set off first, followed by Group 2 and Group 3. This means that should you find yourself in a group that is too fast for your taste you can always sit up and wait for the next group on the road to come along. Group 3 will operate a no-drop policy.
Group 1 will be aiming to average around 18-19mph (31kph). 19mph is an average speed so there will be times when the speed is actually higher than this so you will need a decent level of fitness and the ability to ride in a group is essential!
Group 2 will aim to average between 16-17mph (28kph). Again this is an average speed so speeds will be in excess of 18mph in places. You will need to have had good group riding experience again for this group and will need a good level of fitness to complete the distance.
Group 3 will be aiming to average around 14-15mph (25kph). You will still need to have experience of group riding and sitting on another rider’s wheel but this ride will endeavour not to drop anyone, within reason.<a data-cke-saved-href="https://www.strava.com/routes/18765026" href="https://www.strava.com/routes/18765026" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" "="">
